NBA Hall of Famer and TNT commentator Shaquille O’Neal – also known as “Shaq” – announced on TNT Inside the NBA broadcast that he has been given a new title, joining Carnival Cruise Line as their newly appointed “CFO.”

The announcement was made with a tongue-in-cheek video that features Shaq and Carnival President Christine Duffy but omits one minor detail: CFO stands for “Chief Fun Officer,” personifying the cruise line’s newest brand campaign, “Choose Fun,” which launched earlier this week.​

A traditional keel-laying ceremony was held at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, for Carnival Cruise Line’s third 133,500-ton Vista-class ship, Carnival Panorama, which is scheduled to enter service in November 2019.

The ceremony, which dates back hundreds of years, signifies the official start of construction of a seagoing vessel.

Carnival Panorama will offer many of the popular innovations and features introduced on Carnival Vista which debuted in May 2016. The second in the series, Carnival Horizon, is scheduled to enter service April 2, 2018.

Additional design details, as well as homeport and itinerary information for Carnival Panorama, will be announced at a later date.​

​Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, the 133,500-ton Carnival Horizon, successfully completed its final sea trials in the Adriatic Sea earlier this week in anticipation of its inaugural cruise from Barcelona on April 2, 2018.

Currently in the final stages of construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera, Italy, the 3,974-passenger vessel had a full contingent of officers, technicians and engineers on board who thoroughly tested Carnival Horizon’s sophisticated technical, mechanical and navigation systems.

As the newest ship in the fleet, Carnival Horizon will offer a number of unique innovations, including the first-ever Dr. Seuss WaterWorks aqua park, a new teppanyaki dining venue, and Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse Brewhouse, a new BBQ restaurant offering mouth-watering favorites created by Food Network star Guy Fieri along with a four different kinds of craft beer brewed at a brewery on board.

Luxury cruise brand Cunard today announced it is adding a fourth ship to its fleet. This investment is part of the company’s ambitious plans for the future of Cunard globally.

Carnival Corporation & plc – the world’s largest cruise company and parent of the Cunard brand – has signed a memorandum of agreement with Fincantieri S.p.A., Italy, to build a new ship that will join the Cunard fleet in 2022.

The as yet unnamed ship will join Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth as the fourth member of the Cunard fleet, the first time since 1998 that the luxury cruise brand will have four ships in simultaneous service.

Cruises will go on sale autumn 2018 and the ship will enter service in the UK in 2020.

​Princess Cruises has confirmed that Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri will build a new ship for the line, which will enter service in late 2019. The as-yet unnamed 143,000-ton vessel, which will be built at a cost of approximately 600 million Euros, will carry 3,560 guests.
 
The announcement, made last week by Princess Cruises’ parent company, Carnival Corporation, will increase Princess’ fleet to 19. The vessel will be a sister ship to Royal Princess (launched in Southampton in 2013 by HRH, The Duchess of Cambridge), Regal Princess (launched 2014) and Majestic Princess (launching 2017).
